BARMARK

BARMARK is the Bar Council's voluntary kite-marking scheme managed by the British Standards Institute (BSI).

It is based upon the Practice Management for the Bar Guidelines and Standards and the associated Quality Assurance Checklist.

Achievement of BARMARK is a signal to Solicitors and bodies such as the Legal Aid Board that the Chambers is run effectively.

Business Solutions can support Chambers by carrying out initial gap analysis, developing people and processes to demonstrate the standard is met and assisting Chambers in preparing their submission to the Bar Council/BSI.

Lexcel

The Law Society have developed Lexcel as the equivalent of a kitemark for Solicitors' practices based on the Practice Management Standards and best practice.

Many of the Lexcel requirements are met through achieving Investors in People or ISO9000 or by being a Legal Aid Franchise meeting the Legal Services Commission Franchising Quality Assurance Standard (LAFQAS).
